David Whartnaby is the owner of BlackDog Appraisal Inc. He is a certified general appraiser in North Dakota and Minnesota, and in July 2023, he officially obtained the esteemed MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute. David also holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Pedagogy from Alliant International University.
Specializing in commercial property types—including multifamily, industrial, office, retail, and special-purpose properties—David provides a broad range of services, including mortgage lending, estate work, divorce settlements, litigation support, and feasibility analysis. His commitment to delivering accurate and reliable appraisals has earned him the trust of numerous clients, from banks to attorneys and local public entities.
David is also the founder and owner of BlackDog Database LLC, the leading CRE online database service provider throughout the region.
In his free time, David enjoys staying active, drinking coffee, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
Zac Hofmann is an apprentice with two years of experience in residential appraisal and is currently working towards obtaining his Certified Residential Appraiser license.
After earning a Bachelor of Science from North Dakota State University (NDSU), Zac spent six years working in residential real estate before transitioning into the appraisal profession. He is passionate about helping others and is dedicated to delivering the highest quality service to his clients.
In his free time, Zac enjoys spending time with his family at the lake and engaging in various outdoor activities.
